Instructing Photographer
Ewen Bell

Ewen was recently selected as the 2007 Travel Photographer of the Year by the ASTW, Australia's peak body for professional travel journalists. He spends his working life on commissioned shoots for travel operators, tourist boards and media outlets, collecting images of inspiration and beauty, and helping people to master the art of photography.

His photos reveal the vibrance and character of Asia, Europe, Africa, Antarctica and the Pacific - an image collection that numbers in excess of 50,000 photos, 35 countries and every continent on the planet. Every city across Australia has seen his photographs in daily newspapers, travel sections, national magazines, travel brochures, websites and books.

The experience has been intensely rewarding and Ewen says that he has learned as much about the nature of people as he has about the nature of travel. In the process, his standard of photography has grown immensely too. He doesnt claim to be the world's leading expert on photography, he just knows how to get a lot of great of images during the challenges of travelling, and knows how to share that knowledge with his companions.

Grasshopper Adventures
Jason Williams

Grasshopper Adventures was selected for these tours because they offer exceptional service, unbeatable experience and the most customised itineraries possible.

Jason Williams has been hand selected to lead the tours and develop the itineraries. Jason lives in Asia and has been operating small group adventure tours for over seven years. He is truly an expert on South East Asia and his expertise covers trekking, cycling and photographic adventures in many countries - China, Borneo, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, India and Sri Lanka - just to name a few.

Jason has an amazing ability to help different types of people get the most from their travel. While the photography tours are extremely comfortable for transport and accommodation, the goal of travel is also to step outside our comfort zone. Some find the challenges of travel a little more daunting than others and having a leader like Jason makes all the difference... Someone who knows the local language, who understands the nuances of local customs and who has a love for the local people we meet.

Grasshopper Adventures

His first solo book, an Adventure Guide to China, is due in stores early 2008.

By living on both sides of the Taiwan Straits, and working as both a tourleader and author, Simon has gained an intimate understanding of the Chinese world and his passion for the country is infectious.
